(The following paragraph will be about history of this house, if you not interest please feel free to skip to next paragraph).
The original house was build around 1960 in Chino-Portuguese style, mostly from Golden hard teak wood. The original owner (Uncle Sak) is an engineer so he designed/ bought material all by himself. He even claim that majority of the construction had been done mostly by him and his cousin, only part that can t be done alone or required special skill that he hired worker to help him out. I could say that Uncle Sak was (and still) emotionally attached to this house but unfortunately, Uncle Sak has to left Bangkok to work in USA in 1980. The house has been rented out to many tenant ever since. However, the house has never been in any major renovation since Uncle Sak afraid that the tenant might ruin the aesthetic/authenticity of the house. By the time I first saw the house in March 2018, The house has been left without tenant for 2 years since the condition of the house is getting more severe. Despite the bad condition of the house, me and my partner falling in love with this house instantly (even more after we first hear this story from Uncle Sak) and decided to rent this place. After we brief the project detail to Uncle Sak, he agree to rent out this place to us right away. So, as soon as we finish rental contract detail and the plan design, we start the renovation in July 2018.
Memento Studio & Accommodation is a rustic-minimal style renovated classic house. Knowing that the land lord still mentally attached to the house, we try to keep the Memento of the owner Uncle Sak to this house as much as possible. You can still see the original pillar with the first tile Uncle Sak stick, the original Chino-Portuguese pattern floor tile Uncle Sak use, and some original golden teak wood in many part of the house.
The house have 2 story, all bedrooms on the 2nd floor, living room, Onsen (Big hot bath), kitchen on the 1st floor.
Guest can access every room except maid/supply room on 1st floor
We have 4 bed rooms in total.
1st bedroom can accommodate 4-6 persons.
2nd - 4th can accommodate 2 persons each.
If your group have 8 or less people, we will provide you 3 bedroom (4,2,2)
if your group have 9-12 people you can access to all bedroom (6,2,2,2)
Since the price is different for each total number of guest so please input the number correctly. Also, the house is still ENTIRELY YOURS (no other guest will share any part of the house with you) no matter how many persons you come with, we just going to lock some unused bedroom to save both you and me some cost!
We will have 1 maid in the house, she will be sleeping in the maid/supply room on 1st floor which is totally separate from guest area. Don t worry, you will barely notice her. I can also tell to stay in other place during your stay if you feel uncomfortable. She can speak a little English, Chinese and Thai so please feel free to ask if you have any question or request. Me and my Co-host are also available 24/7 so please feel free to contact me.
